Passaic Street Bridge

The Union County project consists of the superstructure replacement of the Passaic Bridge located at the municipal and county border between New Providence, Union County, and Chatham, Morris County.  The project scope of work includes the replacement of the prestressed concrete box beams with new prestressed concrete box beams utilizing the existing abutments with repair work as needed.  New parapets, concrete walkways, railing, and various other bridge components will be installed.  The adjacent roadway will be milled and resurfaced upon completion, and traffic markings will be placed.

Due to the nature of the project, the roadway will be FULLY CLOSED to vehicles for the duration of the project. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and the County is committed to completing the work as soon as possible. The project, which is expected to take up to 12 months, requires intricate coordination between the contractor, PSE&G, JCP&L, NJAW, and cable and telephone.  Questions/Concerns should be directed to the County of Union, Bureau of Traffic Maintenance at 908-789-3353.
