The Borough of New Providence is pleased to partner with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission's Mobile Inspection Unit to offer free inspections to its residents. New Providence residents can schedule an appointment through our Signup Genius for Thursday, October 16th, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at 1 Academy Street. Vehicles in New Jersey are required to undergo an inspection every two years, except for new cars, which are exempt from this requirement for five years. Check the inspection sticker on your windshield to find the date your vehicle is due and then sign up for an appointment. You may be eligible for an inspection up to two months before the expiration date on your windshield. Vehicles must have proof of a valid registration.
